Flood Problem in Jakarta

Today, I'm going to talk about recent hot issue in most of Indonesia's news shows, flood problem that happens in Indonesia, mostly at Jakarta. Nowadays, flood in Jakarta happens annually, even, it's getting worse and worse - every year, who should to be blame on? Let's take a look first on what factor cause this happened, in my point of view.. 

1. Excess of Population -> too many construction -> green area decrease

As the capital city of Indonesia, where all forms of activities centered here, Jakarta become a city with the most society numbers. with total area: 664,01 km2 Jakarta has patch 9.809.857 society, and has a big differences numbers of society with another cities in Indonesia, and now Jakarta is already classified as  a megapolitan city. 

With these numbers, absolutely Jakarta should grown with many buildings to support the human's activities. Places to work, residential, Mall, stadium, apartments, etc. Which make its green area, trees, plants, forest, reduced year by year along with the increase of the population. Whereas, green areas with plants and trees in there are important place for nature balance. With the presence of trees, whenever the rainy season's coming, it could help soak the water that falling, and decrease the chance for flood disaster.

Now, the green area that available in Jakarta is only 10% of its total area, which ideally it should be 30% .

2. Disposal system 

With those high numbers of society sure it will produce massive garbage in Jakarta. With no good disposal system, it could make a worse condition for Jakarta. Garbage maybe an unimportant things in human's life, it's something that can't be used anymore, it's stink, dirty.. then people throw it away~~pew~~ anywhere, in road, in school, in river, in canal~~ without thinking what may coming up next~~ especially, in rainy season.

Government should provide a good disposal system in Jakarta. They should find most effective and quickest way to anticipate the amount of litter from the society. Government should provide numbers of trash can in ways for every some meters. in crowded place. So, society have more will to throw them in the right place. 

3. Geographical location + bad drainage system

The geographical location is one of largest cause why Jakarta gets a flood every year. Placed after Bogor which in higher level from Jakarta makes Jakarta got its descendant water flows. The bad news is, Jakarta already in bad condition with factors i earlier said. 

Actually it won't really impact to Jakarta if only Jakarta already has a good drainage systems. Every year, with the increase of population, the width of drainage canals are getting smaller and smaller while the water capacity that come's getting higher.. Plus if the drainage system in there nearly broken by ages factor, it will make the condition worse.


What should we do?
It's kind of hard question to solve. Since, we all know, how big matters that made Jakarta having this flood attack every year. We can't blame the high rain intensity, we shouldn't be, because rain is Allah's giving.. So if it becomes a disaster, who else to blame? It's ourself.. as human, who actually caused this. Jakarta already broken the nature being in there until it isn't balance anymore. Too many deforestation. Too many green area used for buildings. Not only that, I get a lil bit disappointed every time I watch a television program that reporting Flood in Jakarta, and the host said..
"Wish the Jakarta's Government could quickly overcome this problem.." 

Wait a minute. So you just hoping the Government is the one who should take an action here? and you wish this problem will be finished? How much time you wish it would take, if you're hoping like that?

Let's counting, how many Government's people that can take action? And how many Jakarta's residents that can take action? It won't ever make sense when you're wishing just The Government that should take an action to overcome this problem and the society not. You're all living in that area together. You produce the garbage, you used the land for making home, you keep coming there with hope that you'll get a better economy, life, etc and when the problem comes up..you're just hoping the Government will finished it...

We all can start helping by doing little things.. Like, don't ever throw garbage anywhere. throw it at the trash can. Or maybe reuse it for something useful again. It's only a simple thing :) 
Maybe we don't notice it, when we throw a piece of plastic in a canal.. and we think, 
"ah it's not a big thing. nothing will happen"
But, how if you keep doing it once every 5 days, multiply it into a month, and a year, and 9.809.857 head. Is it still won't make big thing happen again? 

For bigger solutions.. there're must be a lot. but i believe, most of them will take times. because, the problems're in huge scale. 

1. Do transmigration -> equalization of population -> equalization development
Indonesia is a big country. It contains of..many region. Java, Borneo, Papua, Sumatera, Sulawesi. But, all the society mostly concentrated in Java. Why? Because, the development in this country's uneven. Imagine, if every region in this country, happening an equal development's grade.. The society's numbers. The economy's growth numbers. The resources exploration rate.
Not only the flood matter that will be solved, but also the others problems, such as reduce the unemployment numbers, reduce the traffic jam in high ways, and so many else in the future.

2. Do the vertical's direct construction
One of my college's teacher, in Transportation Building major, ever told me.. as the society growth and the need of massive public facilities's getting higher. We should take an advantage of the vertical's direct construction. vertical's direct is unlimited space that we can used. Like, in developed country, as Japan, American already did. it will surely take times until Indonesia can become like this below.. but.. hey, nothing's impossible ;)

3. Repair/rebuild, and keep maintenance the drainage system

Since, the drainage system like, water pump, flood gate, is still human's production. Slowly, they could get broken by the time. So, people should take a serious maintenance of it. Every 3 month, every 6 month, or every year, maybe. It sure will take cost, but prevention is better than repressive, isn't it?

Compared with the cost that should spend for the maintenance, i'm sure it will less than the cost for keeping back the city condition. less than resident's properties that broken by the flood.

Last but not least.. let's wishing all the best for our brothers and sisters out there.. which was hit by the flood, may you all blessed in Allah's shelter and kindness.. let's save our environment since now.. we are the ones who can prevent ourself from bad things. May Every incident is in Allah's will. but we must make an effort. Take the lesson..and learn from that.. bismillahirohmanirohim.. :)

Letting Go

Losing someone in our life may the most pathetic things  that should happens in our life. Whether that person's going into the other dimension from us or going into another place and different times from we placed, which we apart from them. I believe and I know that it must be a hard time, when we should learn to let them go, holding on thousand memories that we had with them back then, alone.

well, actually, Alhamdulillah i haven't properly losing someone that really close to me, in my life. But I know.. soon or late, one day, myself or people that i love, one by one, will leave this world into the afterlife and back to their Owner. they're now still alive and I'm so thankful to Allah SWT for giving them long ages so they can stay here with me. And i just can wishing them all the best, healthiness, long ages, and happiness..

Now, I understand. When I'm riding at the night, remembering how my life was and thinking how my life is. Yesterday i had this..and that.. and now I don't have this.. and that.. From those little things I could take summary that there's nothing immortal in this world. Everything's just a temporary things. All that we have is only a deposit. Since it was a deposit, of course, one day the Owner's gonna take it back.

Lost is an usual thing that happens in reality. The hard thing is to let it go. Especially when what we lost..is something that really precious to us, something that we love the most, it's like a 'limited edition' and there's only one in the world :'(

For me, lost is a momentum that we never know what influence that it may bring in our life. waking us up? dropping down us? making flat our life? making an unfair world to us? Losing somebody/something could bring us closer to our Maker or further from Him? Those all depend to ourself. How smart are we to take a summary of its every accident. If we do believe that everything happens for a reason, i believe, slowly we're gonna accept it and judge it wiser about that thing. Lost can make people like.. they have soul inside their body, but they don't feel alive. Going everywhere with an empty sight, thinking about thousand old memories, beautiful but pseudo. or the way, keep living although their souls ever scratched and banged with hurt. But here they are, it's life, if there's a beginning there's gonna be an end. Morning comes not just a sign that it's already 7 AM we need to get up and go for school. No, it's not. Morning comes to remind us that after every darkness, insya' Allah there will new light rises. And use that for a reason to us, a reason to keep moving on in this short life..

Sadness is humanitarian. Cause Allah gives us a felling to can feel each other. Loving, hating, caring, respecting, adoring, etc. But till when, a grey sky's hanging above your day? Maybe they do refresh you with thousands beautiful memories back then. Okay, for some couple times, that's ok. Because, memories are a black-white film that formed how we are today. But remember, Allah makes this earth with successive seasons, hazy, rainy, sunny, snowy. So we can learn from them.. Never ungrateful for everything that you've got or you haven't yet today.

Life is a balance.. :)
Life is keep spinning.. :)
Life is a mystery.. :)
But don't forget.
Life is a gift that Allah gives to us..
And a gift must be a beautiful thing to we have :)

Maybe not right in this time, but eventually.

For everyone that just lost somebody/something. for everyone that must live without them that used to be there. There are still many stories that you haven't read. There are still many blank pages that you haven't written with your life's stories. Never stop smiling for them that used to make you smile.. :)

The light of my life

Semakin berkembangnya zaman, akal dan daya pikir manusia yang kini ada pun tentu saja semakin maju. Tingkat mutu pendidikan yang semakin tinggi, sistem yang menuntut kita sebagai “anak jaman sekarang” untuk menjadi  kreatif dan kreatif... berpikir dari yang belum tiada agar tiada, ataupun sebaliknya dari yang ada menjadi ditiadakan, dari  membuktikan yang sudah ada, apakah benar-benar ada? Dan yang lain-lain. Apalagi di sebuah sistem yang didominasi sebuah paham ‘liberalisme’ ataupun ‘demontrasi’ dimana keutamaan sesuatu yang dinamakan hak manusia diagung-agungkan, banyak menimbulkan cabang-cabang pikiran baru. Tidak hanya mengenai teknologi, ilmu pengetahuan, namun juga pandangan hidup, agama misalnya.

Teringat sebuah percakapan saya dengan ayah saya bertahun-tahun lalu. Kita berdiskusi tentang bagaimana Allah sebagai Tuhan yang saya percaya di mata penganut agama-agama lain, Sampai obrolan kami berujung ke pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang lebih dalam dan saya rasa, pertanyaan-pertanyaan itu akan memiliki jawaban  yang tidak bisa di rasionalkan. Contoh kecil, "gimana ya caranya Allah mengatur alam semesta ini?" atau gausalah memikirkan tentang semesta, coba tanya "Kok bisa ya aku ada?"

Menurut saya, itu adalah hal sederhana yang bisa membuat kita sadar dan akhirnya mengakui kalo, harfiahnya di dunia ini pasti ada suatu zat yang lebih luar biasa dari kita dan memiliki kemampuan jauh dari batas kemampuan kita, yang biasa kita sebut sebagai Tuhan. 

Saya pernah bertanya-tanya sendiri, kenapa ya, kalau bayi yang baru lahir itu adalah fitrahnya seorang manusia, masih bersih dari dosa, kenapa ga semua bayi itu lahir dengan agama Islam? Karena dalam Al-Quran pun disebutkan bahwa Islam adalah agama yang benar di mata Allah dan Allah adalah yang menciptakan mereka.

Apa karena, kita berada dalam sebuah sistem, dimana agama merupakan warisan dari orang tua, agama merupakan turunan, mengapa bayi-bayi itu tidak memiliki hak untuk memilih agamanya? Apa karena mereka lahir belum bisa bicara? Lalu, tidakkah bayi-bayi itu begitu malang?

Kembali lagi ke percakapan saya dengan ayah saya, terakhir kali saya berbicara dengan beliau, ayah saya berpesan, "Jangan menanyakan hal-hal yang kamu tau jawaban nya itu ngga akan kamu bisa temuin. Tau kan? jaman sekarang, ngga sedikit orang yang memilih untuk tidak beragama, atau mungkin membuat aliran-alirannya sendiri. Ya karena seperti ini awalnya, mereka gabisa menemukan jawaban dari pertanyaan mereka sendiri."

Di Indonesia sendiri, ada lima agama yang diakui, bahkan keberadaan agama begitu di junjung bahkan sampai ada di sila pertama pancasila. Karena, memang, kita hidup harus ada pondasi nya, yaitu agama. Dan tiap agama-agama memiliki tuhan, surga, dan neraka nya sendiri. jadi, apakah berarti, Tuhan yang mengatur alam semesta ini juga lima? surga yang kita tuju berbeda? neraka yang dituju berbeda? Bisa bayangkan, sebuah sistem diatur oleh lima pemimpin? Apa yang kira2 terjadi? Pernah lihat film Percy Jackson? Tau kan, disitu diceritakan ada beberapa dewa yang masing2 memiliki konsentrasi yang berbeda? Ada petir, air, dan sebagainya. Dan itu terjadi pertikaian. lalu bagaimana dengan lima Tuhan yang entah bagaimana pembagian konsentrasinya? Tidakkah semestinya bumi ini bisa sudah menjadi musnah berabad-abad yang lalu bersama dengan para Dinosaurus?

Dari sini, bisa dilihat, kalau meskipun ada beberapa agama dan aliran yang ada sekarang, tiap-tiap agama itu percaya akan adanya: hanya satu zat yang Esa, orang yang baik akan mendapat imbalan yang baik di kehidupan selanjutnya kelak, entah itu disebut surga, nirwana, dan orang yang berbuat jahat akan mendapat balasan yang buruk dan setimpal di kehidupan selanjutnya. 

Keberadaan Allah itu ada dari persepsi dan rasa percaya kita sendiri. Orang bilang inilah yang disebut Iman, percaya terhadap sesuatu yang belum pernah kita jumpai atau tidak pernah kita lihat, namun benarkah kita belum pernah berjumpa dengan-Nya?

Buat saya, iman kita dalam suatu agama merupakan buah dari perjalanan religi masing-masing individu. Kita percaya pasti karena sudah pernah mengalami hal itu sendiri. Mungkin kita pernah merasa bertemu dengan-Nya maka dari itu kita terus percaya akan Dia. Buat saya, Allah itu ada disini. Di setiap kali saya memejam mata, berdoa, bernafas, berdetak,  dan lain-lain. Allah selalu melindungi di sekeliling

Sedikit renungan..., 

Apakah Tuhan Menciptakan Kejahatan? 

Seorang Profesor dari sebuah universitas terkenal menantang mahasiswa-mahasiswanya dengan pertanyaan ini, "Apakah Tuhan menciptakan segala yang ada?". 

Seorang mahasiswa dengan berani menjawab, "Betul, Dia yang menciptakan semuanya". 

"Tuhan menciptakan semuanya?" Tanya professor sekali lagi. "Ya, Pak, semuanya" kata mahasiswa tersebut.

Profesor itu menjawab, "Jika Tuhan menciptakan segalanya, berarti Tuhan menciptakan Kejahatan. Karena kejahatan itu ada, dan menurut prinsip kita bahwa pekerjaan kita menjelaskan siapa kita, jadi kita bisa berasumsi bahwa Tuhan itu adalah kejahatan.

" Mahasiswa itu terdiam dan tidak bisa menjawab hipotesis professor tersebut. Profesor itu merasa menang dan menyombongkan diri bahwa sekali lagi dia telah membuktikan kalau Agama itu adalah sebuah mitos. 

Mahasiswa lain mengangkat tangan dan berkata, "Profesor, boleh saya bertanya sesuatu?".

"Tentu saja," jawab si Profesor, 

Mahasiswa itu berdiri dan bertanya, "Profesor, apakah dingin itu ada?" 

"Pertanyaan macam apa itu? Tentu saja dingin itu ada. 

Kamu tidak pernah sakit flu?" Tanya si professor diiringi tawa mahasiswa lainnya.

Mahasiswa itu menjawab, "Kenyataannya, Pak, dingin itu tidak ada. 

Menurut hukum fisika, yang kita anggap dingin itu adalah ketiadaan panas. Suhu -460F adalah ketiadaan panas sama sekali. Dan semua partikel menjadi diam dan tidak bisa bereaksi pada suhu tersebut. Kita menciptakan kata dingin untuk mendeskripsikan ketiadaan panas." 

Mahasiswa itu melanjutkan, "Profesor, apakah gelap itu ada?" Profesor itu menjawab, "Tentu saja itu ada." 

Mahasiswa itu menjawab, "Sekali lagi anda salah, Pak. Gelap itu juga tidak ada. Gelap adalah keadaan dimana tidak ada cahaya. Cahaya bisa kita pelajari, gelap tidak. Kita bisa menggunakan prisma Newton untuk memecahkan cahaya menjadi beberapa warna dan mempelajari berbagai panjang gelombang setiap warna. Tapi Anda tidak bisa mengukur gelap. Seberapa gelap suatu ruangan diukur dengan berapa intensitas cahaya di ruangan tersebut. Kata gelap dipakai manusia untuk mendeskripsikan ketiadaan cahaya." 

Akhirnya mahasiswa itu bertanya, "Profesor, apakah kejahatan itu ada?"

Dengan bimbang professor itu menjawab, "Tentu saja, seperti yang telah kukatakan sebelumnya. 

Kita melihat setiap hari di Koran dan TV. Banyak perkara kriminal dan kekerasan di antara manusia. Perkara-perkara tersebut adalah manifestasi dari kejahatan." 

Terhadap pernyataan ini mahasiswa itu menjawab, "Sekali lagi Anda salah, Pak. 

Kejahatan itu tidak ada. Kejahatan adalah ketiadaan Tuhan. Seperti dingin atau gelap, kejahatan adalah kata yang dipakai manusia untuk mendeskripsikan ketiadaan Tuhan. 

Tuhan tidak menciptakan kajahatan. Kejahatan adalah hasil dari tidak adanya Cahaya Tuhan dihati manusia. Seperti dingin yang timbul dari ketiadaan panas dan gelap yang timbul dari ketiadaan cahaya."

Profesor itu terdiam.

Nama mahasiswa itu adalah Albert Einstein.

lakukan apa yang terbaik dengan apa yang kita percaya, dan berharap semoga Allah selalu memberi kesempatan pada kita untuk memperbaiki diri. Kemana kita akan kembali, agama manakah yang benar, semua itu Allahualam, semua itu rahasia Allah, yang terlihat baik belum tentu memang baik dan yang paling baik adalah menjadi baik di mata-Nya. Pelan asal yakin, sedikit namun berkelanjutan insyAllah nggak akan sia-sia.
