An Introduction : Building Information Modeling (BIM)

Nowadays, the construction's world has been crowded with the talk about BIM. Maybe some of you still haven't ever hear or know about it. So, here I am want to give you a little introduction about BIM. Well, I don't really know much about it, but I have did a little search and follow the development about this issue through some web or join and view to some online courses. Which were very helpful. So, without wasting more time. Let's have some talk about this BIM. 😆
What is BIM?
BIM? What is BIM? Have any idea? Ah, right! I've been writing it on this post's tittle. BIM stands for Building Information Modeling. It is a promising developments in architecture, engineering, and construction field. With this technology, people who involved in a construction of any building, can make an accurate virtual model which will be constructed. Later on, this model will known as a building information model, and with this model people can use it for illustrating the planning, designing, constructing, and operating the facilities of the building.

Sounds so tempting, right? It is like we live in a more than 3D era. We can imagine how our building would exactly look like, even before the building has finished built in real life.

As what I know, what the BIM does, has already been popular for architectural's students. The software which correlated for BIM, such as AutoCad, Revit, TEKLA, SAP, is mostly used by architectural and civil engineering's students (also mechanical and ocean engineering). But they weren't already call it as a "BIM's activities".. Later then, the function of those software are combined for one same purposes, so that there is this "BIM".

BIM helps architects, engineers, and constructors, to visualize what is they are gonna be built. Not only that, furthermore, the use of BIM can also help in identifying any potential at design, choosing construction method, anticipating any operational issues, estimating costs or additional costs, calculating volumes, etc. The greatest value of Building Information Modeling to the construction industry may be its potential to reduce cost, increase productivity, reduce errors and improve the quality of our work products and to improve the built environment. As such, it can be a valuable tool in facilitating successful collaboration and coordination during pre-design, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of both new and existing buildings.

In short, BIM encourages an integration of the roles of every stakeholders on a project.

Who can take the advantage of BIM ?
According to this source: here
Parties who can take the advantage of BIM categorized as described below:

  • Design professional
  • Construction professional
  • Manufacturer
  • Software developer

Agen Rahasia

Cornel, sang komtang-DPA. Mas Fajar, Kipli, yang own their own rules. Mas fuad yang paling diem diantara kami semua. Kangen sama azizah, bella, mbak dita (ibu kami semua), chelle, tias, mbak nana, dan KIKIK, yaampun temenku curhat dan pulang ke rumah kalo rapatnya kelewat malem. Dan yang lain belum disebutin. Terutama, buat adek-adek kyu semuanya yang sweetnya masyaAllah, ngasih kita kenang-kenangan di CD, kangen makan-makan bareng, baca doa mau rapat, kangen cerita pelatihan kita yang pertama wkwkwk. Well, too many memories, I guess.

Sukses buat semuanya! Semoga kita bisa segera ketemu lagi! Jangan lupa dateng wisudaku ya! 24 September 2017! Hahahah, wkwkwk!

Random thought...

foto lama, masa-masa hectic cari perkuliahan

Allahuma yassir wala tu' assir. :)

Main air !

Jumat pagi selalu identik dengan main air !

Semester 3 ini. wihhh! Kuliahnya hemm kerasa kuliah banget! Dulu waktu SMA, guru olahragaku, Pak Dicky, sering cerita-cerita, terus kasih intermezzo gitu, katanya kalo di ITS itu tugasnya buwanyaakk, sampek-sampek mahasiswanya bikin singkatan gitu, ITS -> Isok Turu Sangar.

Keren abis!

It means a lot! :D

A week of blessing!

Hey, peeps.. How's your day?  It's already a week after Idul Fitri. Sorry for the late saying, but Taqoballahu Minna Wa Minkum. Taqobal ya Kariim. Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Batin yaa.
We're started from 0-0 again, okay? :p

I'm going to post some about my recent activities in this Ramadhan 1435 H. Well, actually I wasn't doing so much things, Me and my family only stayed at Surabaya this year, because of my grammy just got sick for a month, so all of my mother's siblings asked my family to not go anywhere. Hehehe, maaf curhat. So, to kill the boredom, my family just looked for something refreshing near Surabaya. We were going out to have a dinner, or going out to try new highway, or having a windows shopping at mall, or simply just watching television and get my house cleaned together. I think, after all, it was still perfectly fun to be stay at home for almost 2 months, as long as there're the loved ones. hahaha i'm totally that type of a-home-person

Here, I give you hints of my Ramadhan's activities back then, yeay X)

After praying Eid
Alhamdulillah, this year I could follow praying Eid with my complete family. Actually we planned to pray outside of our neighborhood, but sadly, just like what we guess, we could not wake up earlier that day =)) So at the end, my family decided to pray in mosque near my house.. wkwk. After praying, some of my neighbor came to house, and we did Halal Bi Halal. Also there were some of our relatives too.. And this year, fortunately, whoaa I still got THR nih.. hehe.. :p

Trying new highway
I think the new highway which already opened in gate Gempol-Pandaan, it is supposed as the part of Surabaya-Mojokerto Highway, was good enough. I was amazed while crossing it. They were many crossing line, between one and another one direction. We could also see some tunnels in every some mile. WIKA seemly used new method that earlier used in developed countries such us Japan and America in building a highway in this project, which utilizing the free-vertical-area construction. Maybe, it is not as beautiful as Bali Mandara Highway, but I think it deserves for two thumbs up! :)

In my perspective, the government of Indonesia should, very needed, and MUST held many construction in this field. Infrastructure was a very important point to increase the living's point in a country. By a good infrastructure there will be a massive movement that can be done by the population, include to make a living or to transport thing for one place to another place. By a good infrastructure, especially the transportation, i believe, the rest development (like building, home, entertainment's place) will also follows to growth.

Fingers crossed aja lah for the new government that will start to work in the next three months!
Okay, next!

Pick and do groceries with mom and gramma
Company mom and grammom to have groceries means having a tiring day. Since I am as the youngest person there, I have the responsibility to carry and take care of the goods as long as we're shopping, hahaha. Running here and running there with some plastic bag in my hand at a really crowded place.. was another kind of physical exercise's times for me.. :') KURUS KURUS KURUS!!! wkwkwk

do cooking! :p
The next activity is do cooking! Lately, I almost always being left by my mom and daddy and it's ended by me get starving alone at home, huhuhu. So when the Magribh came up, I waited for my mom and dad to come home and brought me some food.. either I would not have eaten at all. Because of that, I prepared myself some easy and instant ingredients to cook at home, such as this spaghetti teheee. So I do not need to worry again, whether my parents will come home late or not :p It was a good time with stove, pan, and spatula.  That's I provide you the tutorial :p :p :p And this below one is how it turned out! Awwweeee, come to mama food! X)

Hmm delicious spaghetti ala Chef Rizka ~ yeeah

Ramadhan 1435 H may ends, but the challenge of being a better person actually just started. So, let's do better in worshiping Allah ya.. Aamiin. Selamat beraktivitas kembali X)

First Outing Experience!

Hey peeps! ;)
This, time i'm going to share you about my quite-much-interesting experience! Which I just have done two days ago :) So I just followed an outing activity that held by my campus for an open recruitment to be their volunteer. And I must say... it was a nice first experience. Yeah, like, i really meet a new thing to try! Meet a total new environment, meet new friends, and heuh (finally) I'm out from my comfort zone.

This outing was held for three days. And it didn't take a long time (only about two hours/day) but in that such short time, i feel like, i got many things to learn. New spirit, new perspective, new friends, new togetherness, new feeling of having responsibility, and new feeling for caring. Mostly about, internationalization.

The first day, all the participants of outing got a great speech from Ms. Maria about the fact that our beloved country, Indonesia, have. She could hypnotized me enough to open my mind wider about internationalization, about facing the upcoming AEC in 2015, about my motivation for following this oprec.

"you think your country has too many problems, but actually it's much muuch moree than THAT we already knew out there. They think the upcoming AEC is not a big problem, but actually yes IT IS. So, let's start asking from yourself first, have you ready enough to face it? It still few people who cares about this. There's only 98 out of 12.000 who think about this big matter. It's only 98 person out of 5% from 250k Indonesia's citizens who cares about this big matter. So if you say that you really love this country, this is your big job! At least to make your 11.902 other friends realize first! You're success in Internationalization if you already feel that you're in the same level with other people from another country. Students have a big role in this internationalization. Because, you're the lucky ones who can study in university. The future of your country is in your hands. So if your motivation are only to get SKEM, or to enhance your English skill, be wiser! You can take role more than that. And however, want or won't, this's the condition that you will face soon as the challenge of time. That's!"
That's only partly of what Ms. Maria said at the opening session on the 1st day, that's what I catch, mark, and remember. I must missed something there, but yeah, that's really a cool speech.
After got speech, the next agenda was, a presentation from a former in there, he told us about one of big event in there. After that we were divided into groups which one group consist of three people. fortunately I got group with one of my GERIGI's friend, Tommy from Ocean Engineering and also with a senior from Industrial Engineering, named mba Nola. We got the 4th Topic, so we need to plan one of the sub event. And presented it on the last day. And that's how, the activities on that day was ended.

On the second day of Outing, Me, mba nola, and tommy made a deal to work our tasks in ITS's Library at 2P.M. In there, i also met others group. We brained storming our ideas and blend it into a final plan in there. Mba Nola was previously experienced in this field, since She was one year early in ITS, and she also know much about SME. And Tommy was a diligent boy one, he already made a blurry plan about it, so we could done it smoothly. Just need a final finishing about the presentation. Yay!

Because, that was still 4PM when I already done, and the 2nd Outing was held at 6.30 PM. I decided to wait at my big Uncle's home. I spend good time with my big aunty and older cousin, I cooked, chatted, ate, and watched film in there, wuhuuw. My brother told me some stories in there =)) (emhh, actually we were gossipping) hahaha. Time walks so fast in there and i still need to come for Outing, So i permitted to leave.

2nd day of Outing was fun! All time were spend for playing games! It method to know how's someone when they need to work on group. So, it more emphasized in how the team-work is in solving problems that given. The 1st was we got an issue and we're asked about the solution, etc. And then, we're given p**** and s****, yea it's more how we should be creative, unified, and have job desc for each of us :)

Last but not least.
It was the last day of outing. Quite unique experience for me, because this was my first time directly interacted with foreign students. Yea, I mean, I never really done this before. Have a group discussion with foreigner, and they were from Thailand!!! Ketjeh kan? You know right, just how hard is it to understand their speak? to understand their writing? But it wasn't. We could comfortably and smoothly speak with them, share with them, and they were really nice :) Also, sssst I got a group discussion with the beautiful ones! I mean, she's really beautiful! And they both are from Civil engineering. It's the same department with me!

courtesy: from twitter

After had session with ASEAN Camp's students, the Outing event was continued, it was time for presentation. I got so nervous, because i need to talk front of people, especially in English. Hrrrr, you must know how my hands and voice were being shaky.. =( I know i was really cupu!
Okayyyyy the rest stories were not really a highlight. I just made fun with people who sit nearest to me (don't ask who and what we were doing, haha) and guyss, that daay, the room was really extremely COLD! brr><

ok, bye

Flood Problem in Jakarta

img source: google.com

Today, I'm going to talk about recent hot issue in most of Indonesia's news shows, flood problem that happens in Indonesia, mostly at Jakarta. Nowadays, flood in Jakarta happens annually, even, it's getting worse and worse - every year, who should to be blame on? Let's take a look first on what factor cause this happened, in my point of view..

1. Excess of Population -> too many construction -> green area decrease
As the capital city of Indonesia, where all forms of activities centered here, Jakarta become a city with the most society numbers. with total area: 664,01 km2 Jakarta has patch 9.809.857 society, and has a big differences numbers of society with another cities in Indonesia, and now Jakarta is already classified as  a megapolitan city.

With these numbers, absolutely Jakarta should grown with many buildings to support the human's activities. Places to work, residential, Mall, stadium, apartments, etc. Which make its green area, trees, plants, forest, reduced year by year along with the increase of the population. Whereas, green areas with plants and trees in there are important place for nature balance. With the presence of trees, whenever the rainy season's coming, it could help soak the water that falling, and decrease the chance for flood disaster.

Now, the green area that available in Jakarta is only 10% of its total area, which ideally it should be 30% .

2. Disposal system
With those high numbers of society sure it will produce massive garbage in Jakarta. With no good disposal system, it could make a worse condition for Jakarta. Garbage maybe an unimportant things in human's life, it's something that can't be used anymore, it's stink, dirty.. then people throw it away~~pew~~ anywhere, in road, in school, in river, in canal~~ without thinking what may coming up next~~ especially, in rainy season.

Government should provide a good disposal system in Jakarta. They should find most effective and quickest way to anticipate the amount of litter from the society. Government should provide numbers of trash can in ways for every some meters. in crowded place. So, society have more will to throw them in the right place.

3. Geographical location + bad drainage system
The geographical location is one of largest cause why Jakarta gets a flood every year. Placed after Bogor which in higher level from Jakarta makes Jakarta got its descendant water flows. The bad news is, Jakarta already in bad condition with factors i earlier said.

Actually it won't really impact to Jakarta if only Jakarta already has a good drainage systems. Every year, with the increase of population, the width of drainage canals are getting smaller and smaller while the water capacity that come's getting higher.. Plus if the drainage system in there nearly broken by ages factor, it will make the condition worse.

What should we do?
It's kind of hard question to solve. Since, we all know, how big matters that made Jakarta having this flood attack every year. We can't blame the high rain intensity, we shouldn't be, because rain is Allah's giving.. So if it becomes a disaster, who else to blame? It's ourself.. as human, who actually caused this. Jakarta already broken the nature being in there until it isn't balance anymore. Too many deforestation. Too many green area used for buildings. Not only that, I get a lil bit disappointed every time I watch a television program that reporting Flood in Jakarta, and the host said..
"Wish the Jakarta's Government could quickly overcome this problem.."

Wait a minute. So you just hoping the Government is the one who should take an action here? and you wish this problem will be finished? How much time you wish it would take, if you're hoping like that?

Let's counting, how many Government's people that can take action? And how many Jakarta's residents that can take action? It won't ever make sense when you're wishing just The Government that should take an action to overcome this problem and the society not. You're all living in that area together. You produce the garbage, you used the land for making home, you keep coming there with hope that you'll get a better economy, life, etc and when the problem comes up..you're just hoping the Government will finished it...

We all can start helping by doing little things.. Like, don't ever throw garbage anywhere. throw it at the trash can. Or maybe reuse it for something useful again. It's only a simple thing :)
Maybe we don't notice it, when we throw a piece of plastic in a canal.. and we think,
"ah it's not a big thing. nothing will happen"
But, how if you keep doing it once every 5 days, multiply it into a month, and a year, and 9.809.857 head. Is it still won't make big thing happen again?

For bigger solutions.. there're must be a lot. but i believe, most of them will take times. because, the problems're in huge scale.

1. Do transmigration -> equalization of population -> equalization development
Indonesia is a big country. It contains of..many region. Java, Borneo, Papua, Sumatera, Sulawesi. But, all the society mostly concentrated in Java. Why? Because, the development in this country's uneven. Imagine, if every region in this country, happening an equal development's grade.. The society's numbers. The economy's growth numbers. The resources exploration rate.
Not only the flood matter that will be solved, but also the others problems, such as reduce the unemployment numbers, reduce the traffic jam in high ways, and so many else in the future.

2. Do the vertical's direct construction
One of my college's teacher, in Transportation Building major, ever told me.. as the society growth and the need of massive public facilities's getting higher. We should take an advantage of the vertical's direct construction. vertical's direct is unlimited space that we can used. Like, in developed country, as Japan, American already did. it will surely take times until Indonesia can become like this below.. but.. hey, nothing's impossible ;)
*)P.S: if you don't understand what I mean, these're the examples of vertical's direct construction

japan's highway (img src: google.com)
Dubai Marina Real Estate Apartment (img src: google.com)

Los Angeles's Highway (img src: google.com)

3. Repair/rebuild, and keep maintenance the drainage system
Since, the drainage system like, water pump, flood gate, is still human's production. Slowly, they could get broken by the time. So, people should take a serious maintenance of it. Every 3 month, every 6 month, or every year, maybe. It sure will take cost, but prevention is better than repressive, isn't it?

Compared with the cost that should spend for the maintenance, i'm sure it will less than the cost for keeping back the city condition. less than resident's properties that broken by the flood.

Last but not least.. let's wishing all the best for our brothers and sisters out there.. which was hit by the flood, may you all blessed in Allah's shelter and kindness.. let's save our environment since now.. we are the ones who can prevent ourself from bad things. May Every incident is in Allah's will. but we must make an effort. Take the lesson..and learn from that.. bismillahirohmanirohim.. :)

Three Gorges DAM

Hey, I Just watched National Geographic Channel. It's talking about Three Gorges DAM in China. They compare it with others barrage which already built earlier than this, such as.. Hoover DAM in USA, Krasnoyarsk DAM in Russia, etc.

I could take a summary from watching this spectacle, that, how important is it to learn from others things that has been there earlier. Yes, we should make an evaluation from things around us. We should learn, which one is good and which one is bad from that things, then.. we use and follow the good ones and we change/recycle/rearrange the bad ones. So that, we could.. produce a better thing afterwards

In this show, NatGeo channel showed us, how.. greater is it the Three Gorges DAM at China, its strength, its making way, its used technology, its mechanism, its surplus, its different than the others dam in the world. And it is really really massive cool! This show showed us, how wisdom are the Chinese people in the making of this dam.

The Three Gorges DAM (source: wikipedia)

I can't exactly tell you what's the intention of this barrage with another barrage, since it used a higher language on Civil theory.. (especially on water construction major) So you better, find its video (I provide you one below)

What makes the Three Gorges Dam special?

1. to construct this barrage, China needs to move away numbers of its population. They migrate them to some places in country, it also impact on China's economic system for some couple times, but I guess it has been solved, since with the construction of this DAM it means that Chinese quality are raised. They somehow already in higher level. They have another facility to support their life. They have DAM which the world's largest hydro power, i mean the sacrifice they've made are paid off.

2. When DAM's already operating, its water that fall down from the barrage will have a damage power to the land below them. Slowly.. it could reduce the barrage's land power, it scrape the soil layer below the building, and make the building collapse, because they're not strong enough for keeping the pressure that keep coming from the water. So, Three Gorges used a new method which adapted from Grand Coulee DAM in US State to overcome this problem,

if the Grand Coulee make a curvature concrete below their DAM, Three Gorges build it above the water (the red ones), so after the water fall down the barrage, they splashed until around 100m up, so  it won't have a distracted power anymore, the foundation land won't be deflected

source: google.com , This's how the water splashed outside the water space

3. Since, Three Gorges DAM placed in Yangtze river, it's one of busiest river in Asia, it's really useful for the traffic. With the Three Gorges DAM construction it will destruct the traffic activity in there. So, Chinese engineer, made a similar way which used at Krasnoyarsk DAM in Russia. They made a lift which using the water power (adapt the hydraulic pump theory).. So it can lift the ships from one side to another side of the DAM.

4. The Three Gorges DAM's engineer could find out a method to make its building material which won't lose with nature's power.

And another excess that i haven't been mentioned since i still lack on English (i wish i could increase it soon), and my civil knowledge not that much yet, but soon I will, aamiin ;) I just wanna share you an info that I just got, well, Three Gorges DAM has been produce an ultimate hydro power for China, It really give much impact on many things in China, their Economical, their transportation, their flood problems, their irrigation, their electricity) .. and so many else, which grow to better and higher level. And made China into one of developed country in the world.

We should learn many things from this. We could see.. how Allah already provide us with things in nature, water, sunshine, which can be used for something more useful. which can produce big power to be used. We as a human..just should keep learn and learn and find a way how to make things possible..and being useful.

Allah gives us sense and mind, to safe this world, to live in this world, Bismillah may Allah shows us always the wise way..to through. it's one of human's masterpiece. it's a real evidence, that yes we're capable to make big things, whatever is that, however they seems from too impossible -> to be possible. Crazy ideas are the biggest idea. People said if your dreams aren't scared you enough... that means they're not big enough. Keep imagining, keep dreaming, and work for it. Nobody knows if one day we could make them true. The ones who success are ones that have courage and believe in their dreams.  Subbhanallah :)
